Summer Camps

  1. Little Chippers Golf Camp (Ages 5-7)

    June 9, 2017 - July 7, 2017 @ First Tee of Roanoke

    Would you like your child to learn a sport they will be able to play for the rest of their life? If so, send them to a series of weekly one day clinics led by PGA Golf professionals from local golf courses where they will learn the proper fundamentals needed to begin playing golf. The clinics will focus on learning the grip, swing, putting, chipping, golf etiquette, and life skills. Campers are required to bring their own age appropriate equipment to camp. A limited number of prearranged loaner sets are available for free by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department.

  2. Camp Roanoke- Adventure Boys & Girls (Ages 13-15)

    June 11, 2017 - August 11, 2017 @ Camp Roanoke

    Take your summer excitement to the next level with this program designed for new and veteran campers alike. Throughout the week, campers will experience activities such as: high and low ropes course, zip line, kayaking, environmental education, rock climbing, hiking and more! The session will begin at Camp Roanoke and then travel to West Virginia for a three day, two night camping trip. Registration is limited to 12 campers per week. Tuition includes all meals, camping fees, equipment, and transportation.     Looking for a day camp experience focused on outdoor adventure and fun? The Discovery program introduces campers to a wide range of activities that include: archery (ages 7+), arts and crafts, field games, the climbing tower, hiking, creeking, special events, a trip to Splash Valley Water Park and much more! A hot lunch and two snacks are provided daily. Free satellite transportation is available from Tanglewood Mall with camper drop-off from 8AM-8:20AM and pick-up from 4:40PM-4:50PM.     Give back to your community! We will help out organizations like The SPCA, Feeding America, Friendship Manor and more. At the end of the week, teens will receive a certificate for their participation. Please make sure teens pack a lunch daily. Friday afternoon will be a well-earned fun day at Splash Valley Waterpark after a week of hard work.   8. Green Ridge Full Day Camp (Ages 6-8)

    June 12, 2017 - August 11, 2017 @ Green Ridge Recreation Center

    There's no way your kids will be bored this summer, when they sign up for full day camp at Green Ridge! This program combines the 'healthy fun' of Green Ridge Recreation Center and Splash Valley Waterpark, with the excitement of organized activities from our experienced staff. Your camper's week will be filled with arts, crafts, sports, games, swimming at Splash Valley and indoor pool, field trips and more. All activities and two daily snacks are included in the weekly fee. Campers must pack a daily lunch, swimsuit, towel and athletic shoes. A $25 per week deposit is due at time of registration and the remaining balance will be scheduled through automatic draft of your bank card. Green Ridge members receive an additional discount per week. Participants must be RISING 1st graders and have completed a year of Kindegarten. Sign up for all 10 full weeks of enrichment, or simply select the weeks you need. PLEASE NOTE: You must also have a 2017 Roanoke County Health Form on file.

    Get all the FUN of a half-day themed camp with the CONVENIENCE of a full-day camp! The Green Ridge Add-On Program allows your child to participate in Green Ridge Summer Day Camp in the morning and afternoon but still attend the Themed Camp of their choice. This gives working parents the perfect option to add variety to your child's summer plans. You must register for BOTH the themed camp and the add-on listed below. Please note that children must have completed a year of Kindergarten in order to take part in this experience.     Energetic, experienced staff will lead children in a summer of F-U-N with activities including arts & crafts, cooking, games, swimming, field trips and much more each week. Three field trips a week, activities and 2 daily snacks are included in weekly fee. Campers must bring a bag lunch (no glass containers, please). A $25 deposit per child per week due at registration; balance due 1 week prior to the starting date of each camp week. All fees are non-refundable. 9 weeks to choose from. KIC will not meet Tuesday, July 4th due to the holiday. Every Friday camp will be held at the Brambleton Center. Prior completion of Kindergarten is required.     Pedal your way to summer fun! Dedicated to honing mountain biking skills, this week long day camp program will get campers trail ready with professional mountain bike instruction and plenty of ride time. Days will be spent learning and practicing new skills as well as many camp activities such as teambuilding, games and initiatives, hiking, and much more! Must be able to ride a bike.     Roanoke County's newest program is designed to open the world of archery to children in a safe and fun environment. The camps core content includes archery history, safety, technique, equipment, mental concentration, and self-improvement. All instructors are certified by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) and have undergone a certification program referred to as BAI, 'Basic Archery Instructor.'     Get ahead of the game with this week long day camp dedicated to the world of outdoor sports. Learn skills of the trade from experienced staff with an emphasis on education, ethics, and fun! Nail bull’s-eyes at the archery range, practice wilderness survival, hook a trout from the Roanoke River, orienteer the diverse terrain, and gain experience in hunter education, wildlife conservation, Leave No Trace, and animal track identification. Students will receive group and individualized, tailored instruction throughout the camp. There is no prerequisite for the course other than an interest and passion for learning computer programming! At the end of the camp, students will have knowledge of software and hardware skills in both Java and Minecraft. It is preferred that each student would have their own Minecraft account before camp to build on; however, the library will have generic Minecraft accounts available to use for those without their own.
