  1. Intermediate Obedience & Problem Solving (Ages 18+)

    Now that your dog has learned some good manners, the next step is to apply those manners to real life situations while addressing common behavior problems like jumping on guests, door-dashing, pulling on the leash, not coming when called, etc. Behaviors taught include stay, place, leave it, heel, touch tag, and more. Dogs will be taught to respond to both verbal and non-verbal cues. Prerequisite: Graduation from our Beginner Obedience course or permission from High Hopes.

  2. Beginner Obedience & Good Manners (Ages 18+)

    Want a dog who listens better? In this basic training course, dog parents will learn how to best communicate with their dogs in order to teach them good manners. Positive reinforcement training methods are used to teach the following behaviors: touch, look, sit, down, stand, come, settle, wait, take it, loose-leash walking, plus more. Other topics include parent separation, agility exercises, impulse control, and canine communication. Dogs must complete either Puppy Kindergarten or be at least 6 months old. Six week course taught by High Hopes Dog Training.

  3. New: Something for Everyone (Ages 18+)

  4. Puppy Kindergarten (Ages 18+)

    The single most important (and fun) thing you can do for your puppy? Puppy Kindergarten!! For puppies between 10-24 weeks old, socialization with other puppies and people is crucial in order to help them become social, well-balanced dogs. While making lots of friends during off-leash playtime, your puppy will gain confidence by participating in activities and learning basic commands. Discussions for puppy parents include puppy development, house-training, destructive chewing, and play-biting. Six week course taught by High Hopes Dog Training.

  1. Virginia Creeper Winter Ride (Ages 10+)

    February 29, 2020, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM @ Departs from Green Ridge Recreation Center

    Enjoy hours of pleasant cycling along the beautiful Virginia Creeper Trail! Beginning at the local high point of Whitetop Station, we will take advantage of 17 miles of scenic and gently sloping terrain, providing an easy and novice-friendly ride to our end-point in historic Damascus, VA. Comfortable bikes, helmets, water bottles, and transportation are included in the registration cost. Participants have the option of bringing a packed lunch or purchasing lunch at the popular Creeper Trail Café mid-way through the ride. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

  1. Kinderdance® (Ages 3-5)

    February 29, 2020, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM @ Green Ridge Recreation Center

    Your child will learn developmentally appropriate basics of ballet, tap, acrobatics, and creative movement, while learning numbers, colors, shapes, words and songs. There is an annual sign-up fee for Kinderdance® of $30 to be paid each year upon starting classes. Choose the fee with $30 added to it to pay your sign-up fee when first registering on or after September 2019. Each month following, you will no longer need to pay the sign-up fee. Instruction provided by Kinderdance® staff. All dancers will be given their class uniform and proper footwear on the first day of class.

  2. Tiny Bubbles (Ages 18 months - 36 months)

    Join your child as they discover the world of water. With your help, toddlers will experiment with arm and leg action, floating and going under water. Lots of repetition will help them become very comfortable and confident in the water. This is a fun and engaging class which will keep your child wanting to come back even as they are learning about safety and swimming skills. Parental participation is required.

During class they enjoy movement creativity, dance exploration, physical development and body awareness while learning numbers, colors, shapes and songs. We will explore basic yoga positions and working together as a class while learning about mindfulness and our peace within. This program will bring new movements, yoga games, and activities to your child each week. Join us today for a high-energy class full of rhythm, moving, laughing, and learning!   5. Soap Making (Ages 18+)

    February 29, 2020, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Green Ridge Recreation Center

    Learn how soap becomes “soap” through the process of saponification and how to use on line calculators to custom create any soap that suits your personal preference! Participants will have hands on practice creating and following a recipe, learn important safety tips and will leave class with at least one pound of “raw” soap to take home to cure the 6-8 weeks necessary. This is a fast-paced course designed to give the basics of soap making. Please bring an old bath sized towel to insulate soap for the ride home. Lisa Hoyt has been teaching soap making for over 20 years.
