  2. Pilates & Barre (Ages 18+)

    This low impact, effective program firms, lengthens, and shapes muscles to their optimal form! We start with warm-up exercises and stretches based in Pilates, then we use light hand weights for toning the upper body, followed by highly effective deep tissue concentrated exercises to work the thighs and seat. We will finish with abdominal- targeting mat work. You will feel new strength, increased flexibility, and more graceful. 6 week program. Instructor: Heather Richardson.

  3. Elevate! Evening Aerobics (Ages 18+)

    Power yoga is an active style of yoga, designed to elevate heart rate with calorie-burning poses and create heat in the body. This class will cover the basics of power yoga, creating a foundation for the beginning power yoga student. This style of yoga aims to increase endurance and stamina, and places a special emphasis on core strengthening, making it a great compliment to your current workout or gentle yoga practice.   1. Level 1 Swimming Lessons (Ages 6-12)

    Let's have fun learning to swim! This is a class for the older beginning swimmer to become comfortable and confident in the water. They will gain basic aquatic skills including; beginning swimming strokes, breath control, floating, and kicking - all of which will help to keep them safe. Games and activities will help teach them to enjoy and become adjusted to the water. In addition, they will participate in a safety lesson each lesson that will encourage them to be safe around all aquatic environments. The goal is a positive attitude towards swimming and water safety.

  2. Level 3 & 4 Swimming Lessons (Ages 6-12)

    Now you're really a swimmer! Swimmers in this class are very confident and comfortable in the water. All strokes are introduced and by the time they have completed both levels, they will be able to swim at least 25 yards of all six strokes. When a participant passes Level 3 they will have achieved basic water competency skills according to the new American Red Cross standards. Safety lessons become more in depth and cover more topics.

  3. Tiny Bubbles (Ages 18 months - 36 months)

    Join your child as they discover the world of water. With your help, toddlers will experiment with arm and leg action, floating and going under water. Lots of repetition will help them become very comfortable and confident in the water. This is a fun and engaging class which will keep your child wanting to come back even as they are learning about safety and swimming skills. Parental participation is required.

  4. Baby Drops (Ages 6 months-18 months)

    No need to wait! Start the process of introducing your baby to the water sooner rather than later. This parent and child class will start building your baby's confidence and swimming readiness. What a fun opportunity for you and your child to explore the water and become adjusted together. Parents will learn basic water skills to keep their children safe and help them to love the water. Safety information and teaching techniques will be provided to parents. Parental participation is required.

  5. Big Waves (Ages 4-5)

    Celebrate your child's independence in the water. This is the first class that we offer that have children in the water without a caregiver. Your child may be a beginner or already comfortable in the water. Regardless, they will learn to float, kick and become proficient with arm strokes. Rolling over and treading water will be introduced. Submerging is a big part of this class since swimming requires being able to put your face in the water! If they are more advanced they will be expected to swim more independently and with less support from the instructor.

  6. Level 2 Swimming Lessons (Ages 6-12)

    Our swimmers continue to build on the basic skills learned in Level 1 in the Level 2 class. The student will become more confident and be able to swim short distances by themselves. Students in this class should be very comfortable going under the water. Emphasis in this class is on learning to float without support, alternating arms and leg actions on front and back along with rotary breathing. Safety lessons are ever present in order to ensure our participant's safety around all water environments. Fun is not forgotten either!

  7. Begin to Swim (Ages 13+)

    It's never too late to learn how to swim! Our swim instructors will provide an introductory water program designed for anyone 13 years and up that may be fearful about participation in water activities or need assistance developing their basic swimming skills. This is a comfortable, non-threatening environment and we have very patient instructors who want to help participants conquer their fear of the water and learn to swim.

  8. Beginner Obedience & Good Manners (Ages 18+)

    March 10, 2020, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Green Ridge Recreation Center

    Want a dog who listens better? In this basic training course, dog parents will learn how to best communicate with their dogs in order to teach them good manners. Positive reinforcement training methods are used to teach the following behaviors: touch, look, sit, down, stand, come, settle, wait, take it, loose-leash walking, plus more. Other topics include parent separation, agility exercises, impulse control, and canine communication. Dogs must complete either Puppy Kindergarten or be at least 6 months old. Six week course taught by High Hopes Dog Training.

  9. Little Splashes (Ages 3-4)

    Come enjoy swimming with your child as they acquire basic aquatic skills that will encourage their love of the water. This class is the foundation of swimming skills for years to come. While parental participation is required in this class, there will be some time of independent swimming. This time will help your child separate from you and help to discover if they are ready to go to the next level without you. Parents will still be provided with water safety information to keep your entire family safe around aquatic environments.

  10. Intermediate Obedience & Problem Solving (Ages 18+)

    Now that your dog has learned some good manners, the next step is to apply those manners to real life situations while addressing common behavior problems like jumping on guests, door-dashing, pulling on the leash, not coming when called, etc. Behaviors taught include stay, place, leave it, heel, touch tag, and more. Dogs will be taught to respond to both verbal and non-verbal cues. Prerequisite: Graduation from our Beginner Obedience course or permission from High Hopes.

  11. Swing Roanoke Dance Lessons (Ages 18+)

    March 10, 2020, 7:30 PM - 8:45 PM @ Green Ridge Recreation Center

    Want a new way to have fun and exercise? Swing Roanoke will be teaching classes to keep your feet moving! Each seven week series of classes will cover various swing dances like East Coast Swing, 20's or 30's Charleston, Lindy Hop, and others. No partner is required and those with two left feet are welcome! No matter how many times you have come before-classes will have fresh material to learn in each series! Classes include 45 minutes of instruction followed by practice time. Instruction by Swing Roanoke. December-February will be West Coast Swing. February-March will be Swing 101. No class December 24 and 31.
