  3. Intermediate Obedience & Problem Solving (Ages 18+)

    Now that your dog has learned some good manners, the next step is to apply those manners to real life situations while addressing common behavior problems like jumping on guests, door-dashing, pulling on the leash, not coming when called, etc. Behaviors taught include stay, place, leave it, heel, touch tag, and more. Dogs will be taught to respond to both verbal and non-verbal cues. Prerequisite: Graduation from our Beginner Obedience course or permission from High Hopes.

  6. Beginner Obedience & Good Manners (Ages 18+)

    Want a dog who listens better? In this basic training course, dog parents will learn how to best communicate with their dogs in order to teach them good manners. Positive reinforcement training methods are used to teach the following behaviors: touch, look, sit, down, stand, come, settle, wait, take it, loose-leash walking, plus more. Other topics include parent separation, agility exercises, impulse control, and canine communication. Dogs must complete either Puppy Kindergarten or be at least 6 months old. Six week course taught by High Hopes Dog Training.

    The single most important (and fun) thing you can do for your puppy? Puppy Kindergarten!! For puppies between 10-24 weeks old, socialization with other puppies and people is crucial in order to help them become social, well-balanced dogs.     Your child will learn developmentally appropriate basics of ballet, tap, acrobatics, and creative movement, while learning numbers, colors, shapes, words and songs. There is an annual sign-up fee for Kinderdance® of $30 to be paid each year upon starting classes. Choose the fee with $30 added to it to pay your sign-up fee when first registering on or after September 2019. Each month following, you will no longer need to pay the sign-up fee. Instruction provided by Kinderdance® staff. All dancers will be given their class uniform and proper footwear on the first day of class.

  3. Spring Sports Sampler! (Ages 3-4)

    Indoor Soccer, Basketball and Indoor T-Ball! For the beginner athlete! This program will center on learning the beginning skills of each sport and good sportsmanship in a non-competitive, fun environment. Kids have a chance to learn the fundamentals of soccer through kicking, passing, dribbling and fun skill drills. Kids will learn basketball through passing, dribbling, shooting and fun skill drills. In T-ball they will learn skills to help with throwing and hitting the ball off of a tee with drills and running the bases. This skill development program will run for 9 weeks, the first three weeks will be soccer, then three weeks of basketball and end with t-ball. By the third week of each skill, we will put it all together for them to play in a group with teams. This program is introductory of each sport so therefore formalized games with teams will only be introduced and not competitive. Each player will receive a t-shirt, trophy and team picture at the end of the program.

    Celebrate your child's independence in the water. This is the first class that we offer that have children in the water without a caregiver. Your child may be a beginner or already comfortable in the water. Regardless, they will learn to float, kick and become proficient with arm strokes. Rolling over and treading water will be introduced. Submerging is a big part of this class since swimming requires being able to put your face in the water! If they are more advanced they will be expected to swim more independently and with less support from the instructor.

Not only are they JAM-PACKED with fun, new activities in each class, they offer extensive physical work on balance, coordination, and motor skills. Sounds great, right? I'm not done yet! Our instructors are instilling intellectual learning into each class! Your little tots will be counting, using shapes, colors, sounds, music, and engaging all 5 senses!     Our swimmers continue to build on the basic skills learned in Level 1 in the Level 2 class. The student will become more confident and be able to swim short distances by themselves. Students in this class should be very comfortable going under the water. Emphasis in this class is on learning to float without support, alternating arms and leg actions on front and back along with rotary breathing. Safety lessons are ever present in order to ensure our participant's safety around all water environments. Fun is not forgotten either!

    Now you're really a swimmer! Swimmers in this class are very confident and comfortable in the water. All strokes are introduced and by the time they have completed both levels, they will be able to swim at least 25 yards of all six strokes. When a participant passes Level 3 they will have achieved basic water competency skills according to the new American Red Cross standards. Safety lessons become more in depth and cover more topics.

    Each and every gymnast in our recreational program receives multitudes of one-on-one attention! This class boosts self-esteem and confidence as each gymnast will soon see their skills improving and bodies toning. We give our gymnasts big goals and encourage them to push themselves to succeed! Although this gymnastics class is not being held in an actual gymnastics facility, we will continue to be extremely goal oriented as we work balance, tumbling, coordination and more! Our classes are based off of USAG curriculum and mixed in with fun and effective drills. These classes will be training on a multitude of equipment. Our Beginner Program at Green Ridge is an entry level class that introduces the wonderful sport of gymnastics and build up basic skills so one day we can move to a more advanced class! Leotard is not required-just wear comfortable clothes and closed-toed athletic shoes.

  18. CANCELED Exploring Your Craft Cutting Machine (Ages 18+)

    Do you have a craft cutting machine that you don’t understand? Want to get it out of the box and make stuff? This class will explore “out of the box” ideas with demonstrations and hands on practice with a Silhouette machine (similar to Cricut) and help finding resources for your particular (any brand) machine. Learn the process for making stickers, appliqués, polymer clay, stencils, glass etching and more. Once you understand how to power up and cut, a new world of crafting will open for you. A handout is provided with recommended local and online resources. Lisa Hoyt is the instructor; she has 20+ years of experience teaching the art of “craft” to students of all ages.

    Taekwondo classes at Green Ridge are designed to teach martial arts and fitness in a structured but fun environment. We help kids develop a focused mind, a coordinated body, a courteous nature, and a positive attitude. Kids, teens, and adults alike will improve fitness and coordination while learning self-defense skills that help build confidence and focus. Students can sign up individually or have the whole family try together. Fee is per person. Instructors Cameron and Sarah Starnes have years of experience and are 2nd degree blackbelts. No uniform required-wear comfortable clothes. In addition to martial arts instruction, emphasized will be the five tenets of taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and indomitable spirit.
