    This low impact, effective program firms, lengthens, and shapes muscles to their optimal form! We start with warm-up exercises and stretches based in Pilates, then we use light hand weights for toning the upper body, followed by highly effective deep tissue concentrated exercises to work the thighs and seat.     Join us at the Peaks of Otter for one of the most popular hikes in the Roanoke area! The Sharp Top Trail is a strenuous 3 mile out-and-back trail that climbs steeply to a panoramic view of the surrounding Piedmont and Shenandoah valleys. Participants should be prepared for a stout hike while carrying their own water and food, as there are no water sources along the trail. Transportation provided. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

    Learn something new this spring! Adult Salsa Dancing will be hosted by Emilee Fitzwater! This class will be focusing on learning the basics in salsa and bachata. Mrs. Emilee dances multiple times a week, has taught at multiple locations throughout the valley, partakes in many educational clinics by professional dancers, and even performed with the Guia Dance Company.   13. Blue Ridge Kite Festival

    Be a part of the annual tradition! Bring a kite and a lawn chair to enjoy a family atmosphere filled with thousands of colorful kites. Activities include kite demos from the Richmond Air Force Kite Club, Crafts for Kids, a kite contest, vendors and food trucks. The first 1,000 kids get free kites courtesy of United Healthcare.

    Celebrate the start of spring with a short hike on the Hinchee Trail. A nature guide will lead the way along this new gem, all the while spying on oak and redbud leaf buds in addition the early birds (among other animals) who nibble on them. As you climb onward and upward so too will fiddle heads on ferns. Enjoy a quiet pause to look for signs that friends with four paws, just might be ready to wake up from a long winter nap.     Preschool gymnastics classes at Green Ridge are filled with obstacle courses, tunnels, and exciting lesson plans, but your time spent with us is not all fun and games. Each preschool curriculum is carefully designed for what kiddos need most at these ages. Not only are they JAM-PACKED with fun, new activities in each class, they offer extensive physical work on balance, coordination, and motor skills. Sounds great, right? I'm not done yet! Our instructors are instilling intellectual learning into each class! Your little tots will be counting, using shapes, colors, sounds, music, and engaging all 5 senses! We haven't forgotten about good listening skills! Our most asked question by parents is, 'What can a 3 year old really do at gymnastics?' The answer is, 'LOTS', let us show you!     Each and every gymnast in our recreational program receives multitudes of one-on-one attention! This class boosts self-esteem and confidence as each gymnast will soon see their skills improving and bodies toning. We give our gymnasts big goals and encourage them to push themselves to succeed! Although this gymnastics class is not being held in an actual gymnastics facility, we will continue to be extremely goal oriented as we work balance, tumbling, coordination and more! Our classes are based off of USAG curriculum and mixed in with fun and effective drills. These classes will be training on a multitude of equipment. Our Beginner Program at Green Ridge is an entry level class that introduces the wonderful sport of gymnastics and build up basic skills so one day we can move to a more advanced class! Leotard is not required-just wear comfortable clothes and closed-toed athletic shoes.

    The Spring Hollow Reservoir holds 3.2 billion gallons of water and is used as an important drinking water source, but this protected space also serves as a haven for wildlife and natural beauty. Experience this watershed that is generally closed to the public with our partners from the Western Virginia Water Authority. We will begin with a five mile interpretive hike around the reservoir—including the opportunity to cross over the 990 foot long dam. Afterwards, we will tour the Spring Hollow Water Treatment Facility and learn more about our drinking water’s journey from the Roanoke River to the faucet. Please pack a lunch for the hike and a water bottle. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

    Dr. Kevin Kelleher, author of “Tenkara: Radically Simple Fly Fishing” will present this exciting and informative workshop. Workshop participants will compare traditional fly fishing to the Tenkara Japanese rods and methods: includes casting, strategies and tips, locating fish, and a mini fly tying demo. Participants will also get an introduction to aquatic insect live cycles - macro-invertebrates and the importance of water quality. Rods and reels will be provided or bring your own.     Join us as we travel to scenic Orange County,VA to explore the magnificent lifelong residence of our fourth President of the United States, James Madison and his beloved wife, Dolley. Your fully guided tour of this architectural gem touches on a little bit of everything: Madison the man, The Constitution and Bill of Rights, Slavery-Madison’s worst regret and on Dolley Madison, America’s “First Lady.” Also, a special highlight of the day is a visit to Barboursville Ruins, former mansion of Governor James Barbour, preserved as a ruin after its destruction by fire in 1884. This is one of three residences designed by Thomas Jefferson, Barbour’s close friend. Today the estate is an award winning vineyard, where you will enjoy a tour and tasting of some of Virginia’s finest wines. There is a ten minute walk to the ruins. Fee includes bus transportation, breakfast biscuit, all tour fees, a boxed lunch from the Exchange Café in Montpelier, wine tasting/tour and trip guide. Dinner on your own!
